Dow's Webinar to Introduce New Waterborne Binder

American multinational chemical corporation Dow is all set to introduce DOWSIL Print 041 printing ink binder, a new high-performance, waterborne binder based on hybrid chemistry for the formulation of new generation inks. DOWSIL Print 041 will be introduced during a Fibre2Fashion webinar on Wednesday, July 22, at 2.00 p.m. (Brussels time).

Dow's senior marketing manager EMEAI Frauke Baltruschat, and associate technical service & development director EMEAI Padmadas Nair will speak during the webinar titled 'Functional, Fashionable, Sustainable Prints: New Dow binder for waterborne textile printing inks'.

DOWSIL Print 041 offers a strong set of key benefits including excellent processability in existing screen-printing equipment on synthetic and natural fibres; exceptional look and feel: high colour brightness and opacity, soft touch, low tackiness; high durability: resistance to stretching and ironing; cost-efficiency, compared to PVC-based inks which are regulated worldwide; and lower ink and energy consumption, helping processors meet sustainability targets.

As the market for outdoor wear that combines style, comfort and easy care quickly grows, consumers also demand more sustainable textile products that contribute to a cleaner planet. The textiles industry has to balance touch, sturdiness, profitability, and sustainability—four dimensions which are directly impacted by printing inks, an important part of the look and feel of today’s outdoor wear.

Frauke Baltruschat is responsible for driving Dow’s marketing strategy for silicones technologies serving several industrial markets – including textile printing – in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. She joined the company four years ago, bringing in her expertise from working across various positions and locations at Royal Dutch Shell, including Germany, the Netherlands and the Middle East.

Padmadas Nair is responsible for developing and implementing regional science and technology strategies, including customer-specific solutions for the industrial and chemicals processing market segment of Dow Performance Silicones. He joined Dow more than 15 years ago, and held various roles from technical to sales and marketing. His role prior to his current one was the Dow R&D Leader Role for India region.
